TEACHING PROFESSIONALS (GURUS) VS TEACHING EMPLOYEES

TEACHING PROFESSIONALS (GURUS) VS TEACHING EMPLOYEES

There is a serious scarcity of ‘Teaching Professionals (Gurus)’ and the ‘Teaching Employees’ are in abundance. Termites endanger the integrity of a structure, and if left untreated, the level of destruction will only increase. The teaching employees are weakening the nation, a rise in their numbers is directly proportional to spiraling academic degradation.

One of the main reasons behind such hirings are the incapable selection committees, characterized by such teaching employees. The immediate solution could be to build a pool of teaching professional (Gurus) renowned for their intellectual capability and this group should be relied on for the purpose of constituting the desired ‘Selection Committees’.

The distinction between these two classes been discussed and tabulated below:

Teaching Professionals (Gurus) vs Teaching Employees

S. No.

Teaching professionals (Gurus)

Teaching Employees

1.

Fit to teach.

Unfit to teach, but falsely consider themselves Competent teachers

2.

Hiring is based on Intellectual Capability for the particular branch, research aptitude, and capability for all-round development of the students.

Hiring based on Nepotism & other extraneous factors.  Stereotypical interview ritual, usually devoid of assessment of technical aptitude.

3.

Use a holistic approach.

No holistic approach.

4.

Apply the principle of ‘How & Why’ to each & every statement they make in the class.

Don’t apply the principle of ‘How & Why’.

5.

Mentor & treat students as their kids

Not bothered, not sensitive to the needs of the students.

6.

For every topic discussed, a review of start-up & employment potential

Lack the intellectual capability to assess domain outlook

7.

Ensure engaging students for the required number of hours in a semester.

Don’t miss an opportunity to miss the engagement.

8.

Accompany students to the laboratory and discuss the philosophy of the practical topic.

Don’t accompany the students and leave everything to the technician, resulting in no knowledge addition. Inapt hirings are bound to lack the technical know-how.

9.

Asset for the Nation

Liability for the Nation

10.

Responsible for producing technically qualified professionals and worthy citizens.

Responsible for producing Paper degree-holding engineers and citizens with selfish attitudes. This is not a fault of the students.

11.

Theory and practicals are integral to the subject coverage and the same teacher handles both for the sake of holistic approach.

Theory and practicals are taken as separate loads and are handled by different teachers. Holistic approach remains absent.

12.

Their fragrance is felt in the society.

No one wants to talk about them and say any good words.

13.

Attendance is not used as a tool to control the students.

Attendance is used as a tool for controlling the students.

14.

Question paper is application-based and involves brainstorming.

Straight questions and at times, questions from previous years. Mugging becomes dominant.

15.

They have courage to honestly offer ‘Open book Test’.

‘Open book Test’ is meaningless.

16.

Invigilation duty becomes redundant in such question papers.

Invigilation duty is a must.

17.

Spends extra time to inculcate moral values, social responsibilities and duties towards the Nation in their students.

Don’t feel responsible and never feel the need for it, while they have all the expectations from the teachers who teach their children.
