Hypocrisy in education is killing the Nation. If our education is the best, then why do we want to study abroad? If the education system in the US is not good, then how come we are inviting their companies to manufacture in India? How come the US with a bad education and research, is possessing one of the most advanced technologies in the World. How come IITs openly prefer US educated faculty? How come IIT Directors and their teams visit the US occasionally in search of a US educated faculty? There is a lot more to say but this comparison itself is good enough to read between the lines.

Politicization of education, hypocrisy, nepotism, corrupt practices and keeping education and research on the backburner will not help in making the spine of our education system erect. It is painful to see the target fixed for completing the number of PhDs per year from IITs and other Institutions. How can we treat PhD as something like vegetables available in the market?

Hats-off to our space scientists for achieving the unachievable. The quality of head of our space scientists has made it possible to land on the south pole of the moon. India has become the first country to achieve this feat. They have done us proud. Heartiest congratulations to all the countrymen and the humans on the globe.

 I’m sure this achievement will inspire many young people to pursue careers in science and technology. India has made significant strides in space technology in recent years, and it’s exciting to see our country’s scientists achieve new heights. The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has developed a number of innovative technologies, including the Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM), which made India the first country to successfully reach Mars on its first attempt. It’s inspiring to see our youth dedicating their efforts to the service of the nation and mankind. Congratulations to all those involved in this achievement!

It has been observed that many faculty members are teaching hardcore engineering subjects without practical content. In some institutions faculty has gone to the extent of deciding the course content to suit their personal convenience at the expense of the student’s career and reputation of the institution. This is one of the main reasons for students not getting attracted to attending classes and not getting suitable employment.

All hardcore engineering courses must have a minimum of 3-0-2 credit structure. Autonomy doesn’t mean that faculty can be given freedom to murder an engineering programme by imparting incomplete knowledge to the students.

Seriously affected areas are: Defence, Aero-space, Ship and Submarine building, Automotive Power Plants, Nuclear Power, Transportation, Rail transport etc. Insufficient quantum of teaching (Theory + Practical) can’t help either the students or the nation.

Unscrupulous faculty who are treating teaching profession as an employment are responsible for the launch of ‘Make in India’ programme.

Consciously awakened heads of the institutions are sincerely requested to at least decide the credit structure for various hardcore engineering courses instead of leaving it at the discretion of the irresponsible faculty. Such unscrupulous faculty members are collecting full pay packets and many other benefits for cheating the system.

Can any institution afford such faculty members on their pay rolls? Can an institution afford to destroy its own future and the career of the students?

It is high time the concerned faculty rose to the occasion.

A VIEWPOINT ON UNEMPLOYABLE ENGINEERS AND UNEMPLOYABILITY

Healthy / strong manufacturing sector can only help in better fiscal policies. Low skilled / unskilled engineers can’t sustain a healthy manufacturing sector. This simplest equation is going beyond the comprehension of the policy makers. Beating around the bush can never give desired output. We will have to find real reasons for the universities producing unemployable engineers. Any effort other than this will continue to bring disaster.

 Classroom to classroom teachers / faculty are designing engineering curriculum by sitting in the airconditioned AICTE offices and this is the reason that our universities are churning out unemployable engineers. Being a Mechanical Engineer, I have studied the curriculum for mechanical engineering and I feel pity for our youth and the country. Unfortunately, we have come too far and corrective action may not be possible now. Therefore, keep offering more and more opportunities to ‘make in India’.

 ‘East India Company’ came on its own and we could ask them to go back but now we are inviting them with a red-carpet welcome. Will we have any authority to ask them to go back? Will there be a possibility for our engineers to work with dignity? Low skilled engineers are produced for serving multi-Nationals.

 Minimum monthly dole / allowance can be given only when the country has healthy and vibrant manufacturing sector. Let us be committed to the Nation and build a better future for our next generation.

What is the meaning of “Maha Gathbandhan”? If all opposition parties are Honest, sincere, and committed to the cause of people and the country, then they should UNITE and become one.

 

But this will never happen because politics in India, for the majority of politicians, is: ‘for the family & self’, ‘by the family & self’, ‘of the family & self’.

 

“Maha Gathbandhan” means let us join and enjoy the benefits together. Nothing is beyond this. Political parties having guts to vouch for the formation of the ‘Maha Gathbandhan’ is an insult of the highest order to the people of this Nation.

 

I challenge all the opposition parties trying to form an alliance or ‘Maha Gathbandhan’ to merge and form a common opposition if they are really honest, sincere, and committed to the cause of people and the country. Let them prove to us by releasing a Single Manifesto in the name of a single united political party, failing which I appeal to all the countrymen in their trap in the name of religion, caste, language to Shut the Door on their Faces immediately.

 

If they themselves can’t be united then what is the meaning of Maha Gathbandhan? Jago mere pyare deshwasiyon jago.

TECHNICAL EDUCATION VICTIM OF PSEUDO-INTELLECTUALISM

Technical Education is the victim of Superiority Complex, Pseudo-Intellectualism, Total detachability from the Indian Industries requirements, Teaching mostly using the foreign material, Curriculum designed for continuance of the livelihood rather than brainstorming to produce employable industry ready engineers.

 The present-day engineering degree holding engineers find it difficult to accept the challenges of Shop-floor in any industry. Industries are starved of good productive engineers and are failing to sustain as a result or forced to continue with lower productivity. It is evident that lower productivity just can’t ensure respectable salaries or employment.

 Narrative is so developed that blame for unemployability either goes to the Government or the Industries while the blame 100% belongs to the unrealistic curriculum and its handlers. I am confident that this will soon be realized by the career conscious students and things will start changing only after that. The balanced curriculum is one that ensures a mix of employable and innovative engineers.

The realistic and productive curriculum can be designed only when custodians keep away the Pseudo-intellectuals and Nepotism.
